October 8, 20011—another fine day in October. I heard that Octoberfest was going on in Lake Geneva, Wi this weekend and that Clearwater Outdoor was having demo boats available for testing. I knew the parking in town would be hectic, so time to checkout Bigfoot Beach and paddle to the demo site (~2 miles one-way).
Nancy and I met Steve, Trudy, and Yvonne at the demo beach. Steve had already tested 4 boats and was ready to try some Standup Boards (SUP).

I had to check out a hard-chined boat—Current Designs Caribou. It was different, and, as I later found out, this was a 2007 model. Since then the hulls have be made rounder and the chines softened a little. I would like to try the newer version. This version didn't feel the waves at all (excellent primary stability) and edging was an on/off condition for me. Nothing, and then- Wow! Dave from Clearwater supported me on his SUP when I took it over the boat capsize point, and then with a quick recovery-side knee, popped it back up.

Also, the CD Cypress was a very playful boat. Looks like a good surfing vessel. The Infinity is a bigger version, but I found it sluggish to edging while maintaining its tippy primary stability.
Rick at 2K Adventure Gear has applied for a Current Design dealership. This would be a nice addition to the his offerings.
